Bela Koval is director of the The Sakharov Archives in Moscow.

Koval graduated from the Moscow Institute of Forestry in 1964 and worked for 25 years in the field of planning the exploitation of timber resources around the USSR. She has been active in the Human Rights Movement since the sixties. From 1991 to 1993 she worked on the journal The Human Rights Herald of the Glasnost Foundation.
