Titled "Champion for Castro's Victims", the Miami Herald article says:"...a group of respected human rights figures led by Russian activist , widow ofNobel laureate , has launched an international campaign aimed at denouncing Castro's repressive measures against the members of the Cuban Concilium (...) a nonviolent coalition of human rights activists and representatives of Cuba's civil society."
The newspaper notes participation in the campaign of The Andrei Sakharov Foundation along with the Cuban Committee for Human Rights and the International Society for Human Rights. These organization will lobby European countries to pressure Castro to respect human rights. They will circulate a petition demanding that "the Cuban Government guarantee the safety of political prisoners..."
The Miami Herald reports that "...Ms. Bonner has enlisted the support of Nobel Laureates Bishop Desmond Tutu and Octavio Paz, Czech President Vaclav Havel, and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher."
The article concludes with an advice to Castro's regime to take notice of this campaign.
